The Work Behind the Faith
“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions?” James 2:14
Last week I shared my prayer + vision board for 2026! It was filled with spiritual, marital, family, and personal goals. It is so exciting to visualize your dreams and desires, but it’s important that we don’t stop there and find practical ways to take action. Dreams and desires are a gift from God. I believe they are placed on our hearts as God's way of showing us bits and pieces of the plans He has for our lives, and in return, He requires us to do our part. I want to share a few practical ways we can put action behind our faith this year.
3 steps on how we can take part in the dream and desire that God has given us
1. Don't try to figure out all of the details.
For my type “A” people who love order, this may feel like a bigger challenge, but God doesn't require us to carry that load. He is the author and creator and knows every detail of our lives. He doesn't need us to do His part; it was never meant for us, and it can actually detour us from the plans He has for us.
2. Make a plan.
“The Lord replies, “Write down the message I am giving you. Write it clearly on the tablets you use. Then a messenger can read it and run to announce it.” Habakkuk 2:2
I’ve personally struggled with this in the past. I guess I’ve just found it to be challenging to plan for something without knowing all of the details. But that is where faith and partnership with God come in. My part is trusting God enough to write it down and move forward on faith.
3. Utilize what you have.
When God places desires in our hearts, He will always provide tools to bring those desires to life. Most of the time, we already have everything we need to begin our journey. For example, when God gave me the desire to begin blogging, I felt that I needed all of the fancy equipment, ebooks, and courses to get started. In reality, I had everything I needed to begin, but I was really making not having everything I wanted an excuse to not start. So, eventually, when I got tired of delaying, I decided to use what I had. I made a folder in my notes app full of organized content ideas, blog designs, and I even wrote blog posts until I was able to start my website, and as I moved in obedience, God began to move.
Prayer:
God, I pray that everyone reading this blog post be encouraged to allow you to lead this year in their life. I pray that they have the faith to write down the dreams and desires you’ve placed on their heart and write them down. And Lord, I pray that you reveal the tools that you’ve placed before them to fulfill what you placed on their heart. Father, you are so gracious and loving, and we thank you for hearing our prayer.
In Jesus name, Amen
