A Prayer for a Heart of Praise While Waiting

Abba,

How gracious you are to have so many beautiful plans and promises ahead of us. We don’t have to worry about every detail because you are so detailed in all you do. We get to surrender and follow your leading. Our works fall flat because they are not by your instruction, but by our own effort and attempt to fulfill your promises. Let our hearts be bent towards your order and your way of doing things.

Lord, my prayer today is that we develop a heart of praise in the waiting. Let us turn our excitement and anticipation into worship and praise. As we begin to praise you simply for who you are, our minds begin to shift from focusing on what’s ahead, and our spirit becomes present in the moment of communion with you. Remind us that you are our prize and nothing can compare to the gift of having a relationship with you. Your word says, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:33 NLT. Why do we forget that you are God! You created us; you care for us; your plans for us are good; and you don’t need reminding of what we need and desire. Soften our hearts, take our eyes off the things to come, and help us find the joy that is in today.
